At the October 9, 2019, Lamont City Council held the first reading of Ordinance #100: An Ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lamont, Iowa, 2019, by amending provisions pertaining to storm water utility rates. Section 100.09 (2A): the following ERU Standards shall apply: Storm water service charges are per equivalent residential unit (ERU) or increment thereof. The charge per ERU shall be $6.00. The monthly minimum charge for any developed property shall be one ERU. All property subject to storm water utility charges shall be classified into one of the following customer classes: Residential, Multi-Family Residential, Non-Residential, or Undeveloped. Residential. Each parcel with a single-family unit shall be billed for one. (1) ERU Parcels that serve adjacent residential properties, such as driveways, garages or adjacent lots, are classified as residential. Multi-Family Residential. Each parcel with two (2) or more dwelling units shall be billed for one (1) ERU for each 3,500 square feet of impervious surface or increment thereof with a minimum charge of one ERU. The number of ERUs shall be rounded to the nearest tenth. Non-Residential. Each non-residential parcel shall be billed for one (1) ERU for each 3,500 square feet of impervious surface or increment thereof with a minimum charge of one ERU. The number of ERUs shall be rounded to the nearest tenth. Undeveloped. There shall be no charges imposed on parcels during the time period in which the parcels are undeveloped. The second reading will be held at the November 13th council meeting.
