Free Tree Seedlings – Deadline extended to May 12th – City of Lamont is participating in the Iowa DNR free tree seedlings grant. As part of the grant from the U.S. Forest Service, communities, schools, counties, and residents within city limits, are eligible for free tree seedlings from the State Forest Nursery, Ames, Iowa. Seedlings come in two sizes (11-20” or 21-30” tall). Four species, Pin Oak, Silver Maple, Swamp White Oak, and Sycamore (25 each) were ordered. The Sycamore specie is currently on a waiting list. Sites eligible for planting these trees are parks, schools, public or private properties. Trees can be planted anywhere there is space and a suitable site within City limits but not in City right of way or within storm water project boundaries. Fifteen to twenty trees will be planted in the Scout Park and City Park. Trees will be shipped to City Hall the week of May 18-24.
If you are interested in receiving free tree seedlings, please fill out the form below and return to City Hall by May 12th. The City will try to honor everyone’s request. If the Sycamore specie becomes unavailable or substituted, you will be contacted. Any questions, please contact City Hall at (563) 924-2194 or Public Works at (563) 924-2068. Thank you.
