Lamont Community Club will be holding a carry out only spaghetti supper on Wednesday, September 9th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #346, 610 Bush Street. Bills are issued by the 18th of each month and due on the 8th of the following month. A 10% penalty is applied to accounts not paid on or before the 8th. Accounts become delinquent on the 12th of the month and are subject to disconnection. A 10-day disconnection notice is sent to the account holder when an account is delinquent. A final notice is posted on the property 24 hours before disconnection. There is a $20.00 charge for final posting. April 1st to November 30th $25.00 will be charged to shut-off/reconnect water service during work hours. $50.00 will be charged to shut-off/reconnect water service after work hours. December 1st to March 31st $50.00 will be charged to reconnect water service during work hours. $75.00 will be charged to reconnect water service after work hours.
All toters need to be curbside by 6:00 a.m. on collection day which is Wednesdays except as changed by holidays. Recycling will be picked up every other week. Trash must be put into garbage bags before placing in toter. Each toter contains a serial number and is recorded to the property and stays with the property. Any lost, stolen, or damaged container is the responsibility of the property owner, who shall be charged the replacement cost of the container. Additional Services/Fees would need to be paid in advance at City Hall and pick up would be done on normal scheduled pick up day. – Appliances or Electronics $20 per unit, Furniture/Mattresses $10.00 per unit, Tires $6.00 per tire. Dumpster & Roll Off Rentals are also available.

The City of Lamont is practically giving away approximately ½ acre of land at $1,000 to build a residential home. The property is located on Pine Street and is served by all utilities. The City will consider proposals to construct a single-family home.
This picturesque property has a beautiful creek running behind it and its location in Lamont is ideal. A quick 10-minute drive to Highway 20 gets you to any destination you may want to go.
Once the property has been transferred, a dwelling shall be fully completed and on the tax rolls within one and one-half (1 ½) years from the date of acceptance.
Iowa Economic Development Authority has awarded the City of Lamont a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in amount not to exceed $5,040 to work with local volunteers and local restaurants to establish a meal service for vulnerable residents. Due to the COVID-19, many residents have self-quarantined especially older adults (61-80) and elderly adults (81+). Beginning on Tuesday, August 4th, Common Grounds Coffee Shop will provide meals twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays with delivery around 11:30 a.m. and will run approximately 20-26 weeks.
The Starmont Backpack and Supplies project is now underway. The Backpack project is a community outreach program being led by the churches of Arlington, Lamont, and Strawberry Point, The goal is to help needy families get their children ready for school by providing the necessary school supplies.
