Municipal Election is Tuesday, November 4, 2025
The City of Lamont will be holding a municipal election this November. Even though that seems a long way off, this is the time to plan for the election. The position of Mayor and three council seats will be on the ballot. The Lamont Mayor’s position has a two-year term. Council seats have four-year terms. Mike Cook is the current mayor. Jarrod Lamphier, Joe Lincoln, and Mike Slack hold the council seats that will be on the ballot. The people elected will begin serving as of January 1, 2026. Candidates must be eligible electors of the City of Lamont. That means you must live within the Lamont city limits, be a US citizen, be of legal voting age, and not have been convicted of a felony or other infamous crime for which your rights have not been restored by the governor or by the president of the United States. Each candidate must file an affidavit of candidacy and nomination petitions with the Buchanan County Auditor’s office. The Auditor is responsible for the administration of all local, state, and federal elections held in Buchanan County. They have information about all election topics. You may stop at the Lamont city clerk’s office and we can print the required forms for you. The affidavit of candidacy and nomination petitions may be filled out now and must be turned in to the Buchanan County Auditor’s office no earlier than Monday, August 25, 2025, or no later than Thursday, September 18, 2025.
